    Answers:
  1. Tell me about ArtOrg.:
ArtOrg formed in the summer of 2004 as a nonprofit corporation to promote visual arts in Northfield, Minnesota and the surrounding area. ArtOrg's Moving Walls Gallery provides an energized venue to display art of all kinds. Our gallery shows and events are generally free and open to the public, and proceeds from the sales in the Moving Walls Gallery Online go directly to support our significant educational programs. Please watch for special gallery talks and curriculum that we build around these exciting gallery shows. To get to our main site for classes, events and open studios please go to http://www.artorg.info .  [Top of Page]

  2. How is this website organized?:
ArtOrg maintains its general website at http://www.artorg.info and locates all its normal business of events, classes, and memberships there. This specific portion of our web presence is dedicated to our gallery shows and presenting both established artists from outside our region and our own local members. Our Moving Walls Gallery Online also highlights our upcoming schedule of gallery shows. Please refer to our main website for information on our educational programs.  [Top of Page]

  3. Because ArtOrg is a nonprofit organization, are these purchases deductible on my income taxes?:
Generally no, because the works purchased here are considered to be at market value and you are receiving value in exchange for the sales price. ArtOrg can of course accept pure donations and they may be deductible. Please contact us with any questions.  [Top of Page]

  4. How does this site help your local artists?:
First of all, by associating our gallery with such wonderful artists such as John Berkey and Mary Grandpre, we achieve a level of activity on our gallery site which is considerable. We hope that you'll "come for the pie, but stay for the other wonderful artists". We strive for a very open mix of artists, using all definitions of the word artist.  [Top of Page]

  5. How are the giclee prints produced?:
First, in most cases the original art is scanned using the best technology, and the scans are color-corrected to insure great correlation of the print to the original. The art is printed on archival paper with very stable inks. The size of the prints is generally picked to be the size of the original art. Giclee editions are limited in number and are signed by the artist in original hand where noted.  [Top of Page]

  6. ArtOrg produces prints in the ArtOrg printmaking studio. Can you tell me a little about that?:
Our printmaking studio exists to teach people of all skill levels and age groups the art of printmaking. We have 2500 square feet and etching, lithography, and letterpress capability. We pay the bills of the printmaking studio by renting the studio to experienced artists for a monthly fee, and we also create co-operative prints and print suites that we sell here to raise money for the studio. Many of our co-op members teach regularly scheduled classes, and we also have open printmaking studio once per week for beginners and experts. Please come and check it out.  [Top of Page]
